Here I go with my big mouth...

Okay, so the reason why I defected from Moodle is that I don't like their forums.

I LOVE http://www.simplemachines.org/.     One semester, I made my students use SMF for the forum and Moodle for the document submission.

Then I went back to straight Moodle. But the forums I don't like.

So I found Docebo. I like the forums, but they are not as advanced as SMF or PHPBB. Maybe the kind and brilliant developers can give us:

    Sticky this topic
    Move this topic
    Split this topic
    Merge this topic

If I think of any other things, I'll post them here.

Again, I understand the nature of this project. I love it so far...

Oh, and what I REALLY think would be cool, is to have it so that in the LMS when I make an announcement, I have the option at the end of clicking "Save and Make a forum thread about this" and then I could choose which forum to place it in, which groups to make see it (same as can see the announcement with option of modifying), and other things typical to a forum thread.

That way if a user had a question about an announcement, it would be just that easy. The announcement would contain the link to the forum thread/post and the forum post would contain a link  (user must have permission to see it--and user should be allowed to "Petition my Permission" any time the user the user comes up against a wall in this maze. Even whether that option is available should be something super admin or admin in a subsection can set up. And this can be a choice to the backend superadmin, so a site maintainer has complete flexibility.

Come to think of it, why not have it so if the user has permission, the user can be allowed the option of turning any post (web page, message, forum post, news post) into a forum thread. That could go for the CMS or the LMS.

I see Docebo as an awesome organizational tool. It is so easy to bend. I hope I'm not a bother.

I remember now what I liked so much about SMF was that the admin or sub-admin/moderator had such an easy time controlling user permissions and settings.

So, for instance, the admin/moderator could establish whether a user/group was forced to have their email addresses displayed, or was by default disallowed from being displayed.

In my case, in my LMS, I don't want students to be able to see other students email addresses. But I can't as teacher set that up in the class, nor can I as admin, do it at any level.

---

and this one may be impractical but the instructor in moodle can, when viewing the student page, log in as the student. I think this raises big implications if it's applied to docebo in the CMS, but as a teacher, I can tell you, I want and need to see what the student can see. It's a way for me to make sure that the permission settings are correct. Right now what I do is set up extra users and put them into groups that match how I organize my students, but just because the test user can see something doesn't mean the student can. Moodle allows the teacher to confirm things like that. It's very useful.

Sorry, I have no idea what the coding implications are, I'm just trying to describe my ideal online teaching and website management device (because docebo has inspired me to want to whereas others have left me wondering why I'm using them).

Moodle had a nice forum feature which is that the instructor can set up a forum thread so that a user could only see the first post until he/she replied to it. Then, upon replying, the user can see what other students replies were.

That's very useful for education so that the first reply doesn't influence other student's replies.

Yes, I know Moodle has thousands of developers and users and all that. It's very nice...and freely available. Nonetheless, I'm using Docebo.  mille grazie (is that how i write it?)
