Is there a way to create a test/survey pre-course or post course?
For example a form of pre-course test would be a small number of questions which would serve to know the students level for an area.
An example of post-course test would be a survey with questions like "did you like the course? did you enjoy it? etc"
These survey/tests can be done only as a learning object of a course? Or can they be done as "standalone" tests that wouldn't matter for the course?

Yes of course it's possible, you have to set prerequisites on "survey" learning object linked to all the other learning objects above of it Regards Claudio

I tried making a pre-assessment but it doesn't seem to work.
I created a test with simple test, created a rule if score>0 suscribe user for course X.
I logged in as a user, made the pre-test, completed the pre-assessment and nothing happened. The user was not subscribed automatically to the course X. I tried all kind of combinations.....and the pre-assessment doesn't seem to work for me :(

You don't have to use the "pre-assement" function in admin but simply create a test in the course "materials management" area Claudio

I created the pre-assessment with the following settings:

-put in a test LO
-assigned Student group that must execute the pre-assessment
-assigned teacher and admin group that can manage the pre-assessment
-set rule :score must higher than 0, course will be enrolled Ms Excel

I then log in as Student. But i can't see any pre-assessment. Hope you can help.

If i log in as admin, switch to LMS. I able to see the pre-assessment, see screenshot.



As admin, i can see Preassessment module. I can't find any Pre-assessment module that allow to assign to Teacher Area of Full menu.

Hi,

Please don't suggest simple tests as I would really like to master pre assessments as it would be really useful in our enviroment.

I have been trying to do a similar thing myself... I have tried following:

1. Created a preassessment in admin
2. Assigned the Teacher to the preassessment 
3. Added a test LO (end object - yes bookmark - final)
4. Assigned the preassesment it to a user
5. Created a preassessment rule 'if score is between first 0 second 23'
6. Assigned a course to that rule
7. Assigned the user to the preassessment
8. User sees and completes the preassessment fine, scores between 0 and 23 ... but the course does not get subscribed automatically?

The course can be set to 'available' or 'confirmed' but makes no difference, subscriptions are open and I have also tried a checked code generation box (but do not understand what it does?)  
As I understand it the course should now get automatically subscribed by the 'Preassessment Rule'..... It clearly doesn't ... Does this function actually work?

I am simply trying to pre assess students for suitability for a course... if there level is above the set criteria i.e. 24+ points, then they need not be subscribed to that course. Very simple idea but seems impossible to me at the moment ... Please help somebody?

Well over a month and no ideas on this? Can anybody even explain the difference between 'Available' and 'Confirmed'?

Hello,
from the practical side there are no differences between available and confirmed.. they are just two labels and confirmed means that the course is ready with all learning objects and so on, while available could be used in a case where the course can be started but is not "complete".

Instead of your step 5 could you try a rule like "more than 23" or "less than 23" and let me know if it works that way?
