Hi,
I'm new to Docebo and although I've read the documentation and  related forum threads I am still at a lost trying to assign a particular theme to a group. One of the reasons why I've chosen docebo is because it clearly says that it is a multitemplate platform, but now I can't see it so clearly. I can create a new template and I can select if from the LMS but just once and I have no idea of how to assign it to a particular group.

you can't assign it to a group but you can have it assigned to a user depending on the value of a custom field; you can setup this under configuration > Common > Advanced template management.

I've created some new fields and I assigned it to the users....but perhaps I'm doing something wrong because when I go to Configuration--> Common --> Advanced template management  "Use this field for template associations"   I cannot associate any field to any template because I just see the message "Don't use this function" and I couldn't find any way to change this yet.

you first have to setup some custom fields from Main > Users > Additional fields, and then you should see them under the "don't use this function" item.

I had  tried with text fields and yes/no fields. Anyways,  after you told me to add a dropdown field I tried it and it worked. The dropdown fields are the ones I can select from "Don't use this function" dropbox.

 after some tests I've concluded ( I don't know if I'm right or wrong) that inserting a custom dropdown field doesn't help me to assign different templates to different users, because each time I create a  new user I can choose either the custom template or the custom field. What I mean is that it doesn't save time for me unless when I assign the custom field to a folder all the users inside the folder automatically get the value of the custom field.  On the other hand, I couldn't figure out where do I have to assign the value to the custom field in order to show it in the dropdown box when you edit the user to what this custom field is assigned to.

This custom field in dropdown is available when anonymous user want to register to your learning site.

but the idea was to use the fields to choose the template, at the end I did it just asigning each template to each user because  I didn't find how to assign it to several users at a time using additional fields. Anyways I'll give it another try when I have time.

I have a custom field called Country, which has values Malaysia and China.

I have 2 Orgnization Node, called Malaysia BO and China BO, that associated to respective custom field values.

So, with this setup, When anonymous register with compulsory custom field. The user will be auto-assigned to Organization Node.

I then setup 2 Catalog (for course visibility purpose, China user sees Chinese courses eg), that associate to respective Organization Node.

So, in short, formula is:
Custom Field <--> Organization Node <--> Catalog

So now my question, after i associate custom field to template. Can i make this assumption:

custom field <--> Organization Node <--> Template

Means if a user is being transfered from a Org Node to another Org Node, the template will change accordingly?

OR

custom field <--> User <--> Template

Means no matter what Org Node the user is belonging, the template is based on the custom field value that tied to the user?

Hi Halane,

I tried on my side. I must set the user's custom field in order to change the template. I can't use Node's custom field to change the template for a group of users under that node.

May be the docebo team can confirm this point.
